Conference Venue: The Oceanic Hotel

Attendees will stay at the Oceanic Hotel, built in 1873 and rebuilt three years later after a fire. In 1877, Celia Thaxter’s brothers, Oscar and Cedric, bought the hotel which has remained very much the same today: rooms are simple and most bathrooms are shared.
A limited number of first-floor cottages with private bathrooms are available for guests with accessibility needs or mobility considerations. See details below.

All meals are included and served communally in the Oceanic Hotel’s dining room. Meals feature locally sourced ingredients and accommodate a range of dietary needs. Outside of sessions, guests enjoy walking trails, rowboats, quiet beaches, and stunning ocean views. Evenings are peaceful, with minimal electricity or light pollution—perfect for stargazing or reading.
